Questions people ask

Are my photos uploaded to a server?+

No. Your browser compresses the images on your own device. Nothing is sent anywhere, so it is safe for private photos and documents, and it works offline once the page has loaded.

Which format should I choose?+

WebP gives the smallest files and works in all modern browsers, so it is best for websites. Choose JPG when a form or an older app only accepts JPG. PNG keeps every pixel exactly and is best for screenshots, logos and images with transparency, but files are bigger.

Does this remove the location from my photos?+

Yes. Phone photos often contain hidden EXIF data: the GPS location where they were taken, the date and the phone model. The tool shows you what it found and every new copy is saved without any of it.

What quality setting should I use?+

70โ€“85% looks the same as the original to most people while cutting the file size a lot. Use 90% or more for photos you plan to print.
